Hello,
I am Amber Eck! This is my first year teaching at Skinner West and my 3rd year teaching 1st grade. I graduated from Roosevelt University in 2019 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.
I am from a small town called Wauconda that is just an hour Northwest of the city. I enjoy rollerblading, yoga and reading a good book by the lakefront! My favorite food is sushi and ice cream.
I completed my student teaching here at Skinner and I am ecstatic to rejoin the Skinner community!

Vaccination Records Request

Parents - Submit a Copy of Student Vaccination Records to your School
Vaccination is the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic. It benefits not only the individual, but also schools and communities by reducing transmission of the virus.
Parents/guardians of fully vaccinated students are urged to submit a copy of their child’s COVID-19 vaccination record to their school. Student vaccination records will be entered into the student’s electronic record, where they can be stored safely and used to inform the contact tracing and quarantining process.

High School Admissions Exam Dates
Beginning this year, the Chicago Public Schools will not use the NWEA MAP exam for the GoCPS eligibility or selection process for any schools or programs. For students applying to ninth grade, no schools or programs will have minimum eligibility requirements based on NWEA. Instead, a single admissions exam, the CPS High School Admissions Test, will be available for all students.
The CPS High School Admissions Test will be available to all current CPS students applying to ninth grade on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021. Students will take the exam at their school during the school day.
We will offer after school high school test prep classes for our 8th graders on Mondays and Thursdays from Oct 7th- Nov 4th. from 3:45-5:30.

Pre-K in Room 405
Our youngest Superstars have been working with Ms. Bottorff on recognizing and printing their names, learning classroom procedures, and making new friends. They have read many stories about Goldilocks and the Three Bears and even practiced comprehension skills by putting on a skit!
They have also been learning about a character named David who appears in many David Shannon stories, such as David Goes to School. David is learning to make good choices and so are we!!
